New Guidance Issued on Human Rights in an Election Period

The Equality and Human Rights Commission has published its guidance on Equality and Human Rights Law during an Election Period.

The guidance explains how equality and human rights law applies and operates during an election period. This new edition replaces the earlier 2009 version and reflects the changes in the law since 2009, particularly the Equality Act 2010 and the new public sector equality duty. It also addresses the right to freedom of expression against incitement to racial or religious violence or hatred or other unlawful conduct.
